Beautifully polished, 1-1/2", Labradorite sphere.
Labradorite is a member of the Plagioclase Feldspar Group which
includes Albite, Oligoclase, Andesine, which are made up of a mixture
of sodium and calcium aluminum silicates. . Gemstone varieties of
labradorite that show a high degree of iridescence are called
spectrolite, moonstone and sunstone, and good quality specimens of
these are considered valuable as semi-precious gemstones. The
gemstone varieties are used extensively in cutting cabochons, beads,
and other items for jewelry. Hardness 6.
